About

Designed for Clinics, Trusted by Vets

SA Veterinary Sonography was founded in 2019 by Dr Jennifer Judd to bring advanced diagnostic ultrasound directly into South Australian clinics. After years in general practice, Jen saw the growing need for accessible, in-clinic imaging that didn’t compromise patient comfort or client relationships.

What began as a solo mobile service quickly became a trusted partner to vets across Adelaide and regional SA – helping busy clinicians make confident decisions with expert support. Today, SA Vet Sonography remains committed to that same vision: a collaborative, efficient, and always-on-your-team approach.

Meet Dr Jennifer Judd

Jen’s path to imaging began in general practice, where her visual mind, clinical instincts, and curiosity for complex cases drew her to ultrasound. She completed her Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound in 2017 and became a Member of the ANZCVS in Radiology in 2021. Jen is known for her thorough scanning technique, communication, and down-to-earth collegiality.

A visual thinker and natural collaborator, she thrives on being part of the clinical problem-solving process. Whether she’s flagging a subtle effusion or guiding FNAs, Jen brings warmth, accuracy, and valuable insight to every referral, helping vets manage cases in-house.

Clear Imaging, Practical Partnerships

At SA Veterinary Sonography, we believe great imaging is only part of the picture. The real value lies in how that information supports you, your patient, and your plan forward. That’s why we prioritise:

  • Clarity and consistency – Each scan is performed with accuracy and clear communication to support confident decision-making.
  • Collegial respect – We work as a trusted extension of your clinic, respecting your lead.
  • Patient-first handling – Gentle, low-stress techniques are used to keep patients calm and imaging quality high.
  • Real collaboration – From scan to follow-up, we support your clinical workflow.

Whether you need a same-day scan, help staging a murmur, or someone to talk through a tricky presentation, we’re here to help.

Let’s work together to make diagnosis easier.

“Vets are juggling so much every day. If I can make even one part of the diagnostic process easier, that’s a win.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We’re here to support you. Below are answers to common queries about our veterinary ultrasound services.

Does SA Veterinary Sonography work in set areas and clinics?

Yes. SA Veterinary Sonography is a mobile service based in Adelaide, with regular visits to specific clinic locations. Dr Jen scans at SA Vet Medical Referrals in Fullarton on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1–5pm, and at Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital all day Thursdays. She also travels to Mount Gambier 2–4 times per year – vets in the area can refer cases to a central clinic on those dates. Outside of these times, Jen provides mobile ultrasound across metro Adelaide, working directly in general practices or alongside mobile vets in-home where needed.

How does SA Veterinary Sonography’s mobile ultrasound service work?

SA Veterinary Sonography is a mobile ultrasound service that comes to your veterinary clinic. We bring a high-end ultrasound machine on-site to perform comprehensive scans. This means your pet gets advanced imaging at their familiar clinic, avoiding stressful travel, and your vet stays in charge of their care.

What is Dr Jen Judd’s experience in veterinary imaging?

Dr Jennifer Judd has over a decade of veterinary experience and specialised training in diagnostic imaging. She spent 10 years in general practice and completed a Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound in 2017, then attained Membership in Small Animal Radiology in 2021. Dr Jen founded SA Veterinary Sonography in 2019 to bring these imaging services to local clinics.

Will my regular vet still be involved if we use SA Veterinary Sonography?

Absolutely. SA Veterinary Sonography works in partnership with your local vet. Dr Jen performs the ultrasound at your clinic and then discusses the findings with your veterinarian. Your vet stays in charge of your pet’s care throughout the process, ensuring continuity and a collaborative approach.

What makes SA Veterinary Sonography different from other SA veterinary imaging services?

SA Veterinary Sonography is unique because it’s a dedicated mobile ultrasound service that comes to your clinic. Unlike other SA veterinary imaging services or referral centres, we focus solely on ultrasound imaging and have no conflict of interest – we don’t take over case management. We also don’t charge additional consultation fees, and we make every effort to accommodate urgent cases on the same day if needed.

What ultrasound imaging services do you offer?

We provide a range of ultrasound-based veterinary imaging services for pets. Our services include comprehensive abdominal scans, thoracic (chest) ultrasounds, and pregnancy diagnosis scans. We also offer ultrasound-guided procedures (like fine needle aspirates or fluid drainage) and basic heart ultrasounds (echocardiograms) if required.

Where does SA Veterinary Sonography provide services?

We are based in Adelaide and offer mobile ultrasound services across the Adelaide metropolitan area and other parts of South Australia. As a mobile service, we travel to your clinic, making high-quality imaging accessible to veterinary practices in various regions of SA.
